Indoor Recess, Math, Word Study, & Science

The class may be going a little stir crazy with being inside all day long, but they are making the most out of indoor recess.  Building with the dominos, tangrams, and making tessellations is a common way they've been spending their indoor playtime.  Once a creation has been made, they LOVE having their picture taken.

In math we finished up Unit 5 which mainly focused on geometry.  Below are pictures from a symmetry activity math groups completed.

In Unit 6 students learned a challenging skill - to regroup or borrow when subtracting two-digit numbers.  To help them learn this concept they used unifix cubes so they could easily break apart a ten and add it to the ones.

In Word Study, groups completed a word hunt by recreating their sort with words from books.

In Science we kicked off our Sound Unit. Groups began investigating sound using different sized tuning forks and jotting down sounds they have heard of, what they already know about sound, and what they are wondering about sound.
